My top three favourite ski content creators

When I physically can’t ski, whether it’s because of summer or any other reason, a solid pastime for me is to sit on the couch with a hot cup of joe and catch up on my favourite ski content creators. In no particular order, here they are.

  1. Cody Townsend

Cody Townsend is a former professional free skier and currently a ski mountaineer. His down-to-earth persona about skiing appeals to me the most. He takes ski mountaineering very seriously but ensures he does so as safely as possible. In his series “The Fifty” project, he attempts to ski the 50 classic ski descents of North America according to Art Burrows, Chris Davenport, and Penn Newhard’s iconic book. What I admire about him most is that he is very cognizant of the risks of avalanches, crevices, dangerous weather, and is fully willing to cancel a shoot for the sake of his and his team’s safety. Backcountry skiing is no joke, so this attitude is a testament to his professionalism and experience.

2. Lucas Cantania

This guy has a very interesting background. He is a top-performing athlete in multiple other sports, has a science undergraduate degree, and an MBA. He was also a videography director for a major extreme sports media company. Much like myself, he decided to end his corporate gig in order to do what he loves most. He drives around North America in his sprinter van, reviews ski resorts, and shares his experience via GoPro. Not only is he a fantastic skier and a pleasure to watch, but his eye for design and videography is also very apparent based on his shots and editing skills.

3. Rise and Alpine

Rise and Alpine is an up-and-coming ski content creator that you need to watch out for. I learned about him when I decided on my bucket list trip of skiing at Whistler-Blackcomb. With over 200 marked runs, I was overwhelmed when planning my one-week visit here. Thankfully, Rise and Alpine provided detailed guides showing the ski maps and GoPro footage, which helped me find some of the most gnarly parts of these mountains. He helped me find the infamous “Coffin”, the Blackcomb Glacier, and countless other areas.
